Constructed from 1406 to 1420, The Forbidden City is the world’s largest palace complex. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was home to no less than 24 emperors during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The entire complex is right at the heart of Beijing and consists of more 980 separate buildings. The Forbidden City is one of the best-preserved Palace buildings worldwide and showcases more than 2,000 years of Chinese cultural history.
